About the Book The primary subject of the book is “nuclear politics” – a study of both the destructive potential of the ‘ultimate weapons’ and of ways dealing with the problems this weapon might pose to international peace and security. The subject rests on the author’s attempt to help both generalists and specialists understand the basic issues of nuclear-weapon states’ policies which affect all our lives, and as such merit attention by all people of the world. Since the book covers the period from 1945 to 2003, the subject of the book rests on a detailed description of events and analysis thereof, setting forth at the same time the problems arising out of “nuclear politics”. This is a study of the indispensable role played by political acts and actors before any negotiating process can begin to not only put an end to proliferation but also the abolition of nuclear weapons. |
