The story of Sterling begins with that of its founder, the late Mr.O.P.Ghai. From a teacher to a publisher and then an author, his was indeed a journey of great vision and diversity.

The mid-forties saw the establishment of University Publishers in Jalandhar. By the sixties, Sterling Publishers had been set up in New Delhi and making its presence felt in the Indian Publishing Industry. Mr.O.P.Ghai was the first recipient of the Prakashak Ratna Award. He was the President of the Federation of Publishers and Booksellers Association of India, President of the Federation of Indian Publishers and an Executive Committee Member of the International Publishers Association. Within his lifetime, he had been joined by his son Mr.S.K.Ghai, who now spearheads the Sterling Group.

Mr.S.K.Ghai has taken forward the publishing business in tune with the times and is now aided by his sons, Mr.Vikas Ghai and Mr.Gaurav Ghai in expanding the business.The three of them are now the pillars of this leading publishing house not just in India but worldwide.
